We Won’t Hold Back

This statement delivers a commitment-- a determination.

The first word is inclusive.

It's a team, a group, people who are together for a purpose.

Then, that powerful phrase "won't hold back." You can read a few different ways:

  • We'll defend ourselves to the fullest-- we won't hold back

  • We're not gonna leave anything out on that field-- we won't hold back

  • We're gonna eat all that bbq-- we won't hold back

I suppose this could be interpreted so many different ways. This is the last phrase of our church prayer, we call it the Image Bearer Prayer. It serves as a benediction (good word) each week. It serves as our mission and vision. We don't have a statement, we have a prayer. Here it is:

We are image bearers of the most high God,

We are covered by the love of Jesus,

We have the power of the Holy Spirit within us.

Because of the Holy Spirit's power within us,

We will freely and recklessly give away this love of Jesus

We won't hold back.

When we pray this, it is a rally cry toward sharing the love of Jesus. We will do it together. We are determined to give it all we have. Everything we do is built on this prayer. It's a prayer-- because what we will "not hold back" isn't ours-- it's His.
